DESCRIPTION The stamp shows rough & oval cut Opal. The name is derived from Sanskrit word for 'stone'. The special characteristic of this is it's play-of-color, a display of rainbow-like hues which, especially in rounded cut forms, changes with angles of observation.
   
VARIATION DESCRIPTION The First day of issue is artistically printed. The cancellation is done by GPO, Melbourne. There is an overprint on the stamp from 8c to 9c.
